What we do:
We are maintaining a noticeboard which gives details about relevant events in the EU as well as the flags of the countries in the EU
We have entered a competition to win a trip for 25 people to Strasbourg, where we had to make a video where one of us had to pretend to be running for the 2019 European Parliament Election. The topic was "Women in Ireland" and so our MEP had to be a woman. We had 3 volunteers and so we picked a name out of a hat and Ava won. We started coming up with ideas and we made a list of what people could do in the video.
Our final idea was to write a poem, accompanied by Hannah on clarinet, have Ava say a speech, with Aoibhin accompanying on harp and the rest of us in the background holding up campaign posters, and to finish the video, we would have Jack dance and Ashling playing a tune on the accordion.
We got to work. Ava and Adam wrote the speech, Nadine and Ellen wrote the poem and Laoise put together posters. We filmed with a professional videographer after school on Wednesday November 14th 2018 at 5 o´clock and so we rehearsed and rehearsed before the filming, making sure it was under 1 minute, as that was the requirement for the competition. We went over by 20 seconds and so we didn´t win. but we got entered into another competition to win a trip for 3 students to Brussels. This trip was a big deal as we would be representing Ireland.
We won the trip to Brussels and so we put everyone's name into the hat and chose 3 names, so Ruth, Aoibhin and Michaela are the 3 representing Ireland at a mini Youth Parliament in Brussels in March.
