Enable Ireland
By Katie
As a part of my Ty experience, we got to go to Joyce's supermarket to fundraise for Enable Ireland.
In my group was Stella, Ronan and Jordan. We were the first group on in the morning. We had to go to Ms. Flanagan at to gather the buckets which we would collect the money in, get the table and poster and gather all the things we would sell.
We headed down to Joyce's and set up at the front door. We set up our table. I was responsible for holding the bucket. Stella was responsible for asking people "would they like to donate". Ronan was in charger of keeping track of all the money we got and things we sold. Jordan was in charge of asking "would they like to buy anything?"
The things we had to sell were balloons, Trolly tokens, badges and wristbands.
We raised over 80 euro by donations and also people bought stuff. Our group then swapped with another group and this repeated throughout the entire day. Different groups would go down to Joyce's and raise the money.
In school, groups of Ty students went around to classes to sell wristbands and badges to the students in order to raise more money for Enable Ireland.
Enable Ireland is a great organisation which is a non-profit state-funded organisation that provides free services to children and adults with disabilities and their families in Ireland.
