The Anglers Rest Hotel
By Laoise
Myself and 2 of my classmates worked in the Anglers Rest for the week. It was a great experience and something that I greatly appreciate.
We were told to be in work wearing all black at 9 am, where Fiona would meet us and show us around. She should us where to go in the mornings to put in our coats and should us around. We started off by filling the containers of ketchup, mustard and vinegar as well as the ones for the white and brown sugar.
After that Fiona showed us how to do the menu boards for the days specials. We started off doing small jobs that Fiona wanted doing, before her showing us how to use the coffee machine and how to take orders using a docket book. This took a while to get used of, as you had to remember how to fill the different type cops of coffee and also remember the order of numbers on the tables for when taking orders.
During the week we got trusted more jobs and, before we knew it, we were taking orders delivering food and using the till as if we worked there permanently. It was a great experience and because of this, we got given jobs over the Christmas holidays to come in and work shifts.
I really enjoyed it and everyone was so kind and sweet and helpful we never felt like we could not ask them any questions we had about what we were to do or how to do something I would definitely ask for a permanent job there in the future.
